Sri Agastheeswarar - Villivakkam

This temple said to be built by Kulothunga Cholan in 700 AD is located close to the MTH road in Villivakkam. The temple has a big pond mostly covered by lilly flower. The entrance of the temple is facing the south.

When Agastheeswarar Rishi came to south, he prayed here to get rid of the papa attained by murdering the demons Vilvalan and Vathapi. Lord Siva, in the name Agastheeswarar is facing east and Ambal Swarnambikai is facing south. Here Angarakan (Bhagavan Sevvai) worshipped Lord Siva and came out of the Dosham he had.

About the Temple:

In the Navagraha Sannadhi, Guru Bhagavan is facing Ambal. As ambal and Guru are facing each other directly in this Kshetra, all those girls who worship Ambal receive the grace of Guru and get married soon. In the Tamil Aadi and Thai months, on Tuesdays, those who take a dip in the tank and worship Ambal and Swamy get rid of the harms they face in getting married and enter Gruhastastrama soon. Vilva tree is the Stala Vruksham.

Other sannidhis at the temple include Sri Maha Vishnu, Sri Brahma. Sri. Natarajar, Sri.Somaskandar, Sri.Dakshnimurthi, Sri.Raja Ganapathi, Sri.Murugan with Valli and Devayani, Kamakshi, Karumari and Durgai Amman Sannidhis, Navagrahas and others.
